The Gangster - Antapal Trailer
The Gangster - Antapal Synopsis
Inspired by the infamous Thai Gangster Era in 1956 comes the tale of two gangsters, Daeng and Jod.
“Antapal” means a hooligan in Thai. But in the 1950s, young men fighting in endless, bloodied gang war are celebrities and heroes. People look up at them and they swagger around old Bangkok as if they have the world in the palms of their hands. But the military dictator comes to power and order a massive crackdown on triads and thugs, and young hoodlums fall from grace. They are either shot dead or thrown in jail. Two of the hottest young gangsters are Daeng and Jod, and they’re determined to survive the hard times.
From the rock n’ roll age comes the hippie decade, and Jod (Krisada Sukosol Clapp) and his buddy Daeng (Somchai Kemklad) want to make a comeback. Daeng and Jod work for a powerful mafia, running protection rackets and controlling bars. At the same time two young men, Thong (Sakarin Suthamsamai) and Piak (Krisada Suparpprom), start their lives in the rough road of hooliganism and look up at Jod and Daeng as their idols.
But soon Jod begins to see through the vicious cycle of his life. Violence is not a guarantee of respect, and the police soon begin to make their lives harder again. Thong and Piak have a different perception in the dangerous lifestyle from the world-weary Jod and Daeng. As Bangkok changes and as the world changes, they have to resolve the conflict and decide whether they want to keep walking on the path of hooligans.
The Gangster - Antapal Review
Movie Rating: 8 / 10
This movie is happened based on the true story in 1950s at Thailand. And the background of the storyboard is quite matched with the movie because of the clothes that the actors wear and the place where the producer take scene at.
He and his best friend, Daeng is the famous gangster and admired by Piak and Thong, who working in the cinemas because they are brave enough to challenge the person who want to challenge them. Unfortunately, Daeng was passed away because of the car accident since he is quit from the gangster.
In the middle of the movie, Piak and Thong joined gangster. But at the end of the movie, Piak was killed Thong because Thong is at Boss Loh's side and Piak is at Jod's side when Jod and his friends are planned to kill Boss Loh because he want to kill them because of they betray him. This is the sad part because Piak is accidentally shoot his best friend, Thong. Before that, Thong want Piak to leave Ploy, the mistress of Boss Loh but Piak just ignored his advice and Ploy was killed by O-Tee under Boss Loh's order.
As a conclusion, Jod shouldn't join the gangster because there is no turning back once he join the gangster. He killed lots of people and he did remember their face, so he will imagine that they will find him for revenge. For me, this is the nice movie to give the advice to the youth about the badness that joining the gangster.
