Chappie Synopsis
In an effort to reduce the notoriously high crime rate in Johannesburg, the South African government purchase a new, cutting-edge series of armour-plated, semi-A.I. operated attack robots from weapons manufacturer Tetravaal. They prove to be an instant success. At the company's Johannesburg plant, the robot's designer, Deon Wilson (Dev Patel) , attracts the ire of Vincent Moore (Hugh Jackman), an Australian engineer whose own design, MOOSE, is derided. Deon has just created a new Artificial Intelligence software that mimics human intelligence to the point of being able to feel emotions and have opinions. However, he is refused permission to test it on one of the robots by his boss, Michelle Bradley (Sigourney Weaver). Undeterred, he steals a recently damaged robot before it is destroyed and loads it into his van, along with the necessary driver to update the robot's software. On his way home, however, he is kidnapped by a group of gangsters, consisting of Ninja (Watkin Tudor Jones), Yolandi (Yolandi Visser), and Yankie (Amerika) (Jose Pablo Cantillo), who wants to force him to reprogram one of his robots to assist them in a heist in order to pay off their debt. At gunpoint, he installs his new software into the damaged robot, which responds with child-like terror upon powering up. Deon and Yolandi coax it out, and it soon begins to speak, identifying Deon as its "maker" and Yolandi as its "mommy". Yolandi, in turn, names it "CHAPPiE" (after the Commonwealth colloquialism "Happy Chappie"). Despite his desire to stay with the robot, Deon is forced to leave by Ninja.
Although Yolandi wants to mother Chappie, Ninja becomes impatient with Chappie's progress – since he only has days to pay a debt of 20 million rand to Hippo (Bradnon Auret), a powerful gangster, and Chappie's damaged battery means that he only has days of life left – and drops him off in a dangerous neighbourhood to force him to toughen up. However, Chappie is seized by Vincent, who had followed Deon on one of his visits, and realised where the update driver is. Vincent removes Chappie's arm to prevent him from fighting back, but an agitated Chappie manages to overpower him and escapes. Upon his return, Yankie attaches a new arm from Deon's supplies, while Yolandi and Ninja fall out. Ninja trains Chappie in martial arts and weapons' handling, and soon manages to persuade him to turn to crime, first by insisting that he is defending his "mommy and daddy" and then that he needs money to buy a new body – to replace the one that is about to die.
With the driver in hand, Vincent installs a new software into all the attack robots, causing a city-wide shutdown – including Chappie – and provoking chaos in the Johannesburg slums. His attempt to delete the software is stopped by Deon, who has brought Chappie to the factory to restart him. While there, Chappie discovers a helmet which allows him to transfer his consciousness into a computer, which will allow him to change bodies when his current one dies. He returns to the gang's hideout, and, after showing the machine to Yolandi, agrees to participate in the heist. The heist - which is caught on the news - goes off without a hitch, but on the drive home, Ninja confesses there is no body to replace Chappie and he had been lying. Enraged, Chappie attacks him and, when they arrive home, prepares to kill him. At that moment, Vincent's MOOSE robot arrives and attacks, as does Deon and Hippo, the gangster to whom Ninja owes money. Yankie is then killed by MOOSE, and Deon is wounded by a bullet to the stomach. In the midst of the battle, Hippo is killed by Ninja. Wanting to make up for what he's done, Ninja offers to distract MOOSE while Chappie and Yolandi take Deon to the factory to transfer his consciousness to a robot. As Chappie is driving off, Yolandi leaps out of the vehicle, grabs Chappie's gun and shoots MOOSE before it can kill Ninja. The robot turns it's gatling gun on her and fires, killing Yolandi. Chappie leaps in front of her and detonates a bomb he'd jammed in MOOSE's side, destroying the robot.
Filled with rage, Chappie drives Deon to the Tetravaal factory, storms in and attacks Vincent. The fight ends in the main office, where Chappie leaves Vincent on the verge of death, telling him "now I forgive you." He returns to Deon, attaches him to Vincent's machine and transfers his consciousness into a prototype robot. Realising that there are many deactivated robots in the vicinity, the now robotic Deon transfers Chappie's consciousness into one just outside the facility, and escapes through an air duct. The two reunite outside, and make their way back to the hideout. There, as Ninja is burning Yolandi's personal effects, he finds a flash drive marked "Mommy's Consciousness" – revealing that Chappie had used the device on Yolandi earlier, and now has her consciousness available for transfer. They hack into Tetravaal's computer, design a female robotic body and transfer Yolandi's consciousness into it, resurrecting her in robot form.
Chappie Movie Review
<Chappie> is a movie which is talking about a robot who save mankind. The movie started with the city which have a lot of criminal (almost 300 criminals per day), Deon Wilson and Vincent Moose is the robot maker to fight with the criminal. Scout robot that created by Deon was successful till police force want to order 100 of it. This make Moose very angry because the robot that he create is useless. One day, a Scout robot (No. 22) is spoiled once fight with the gangster and it was rejected by Deon and said that it can't repair. At the time when he was successful create the code which can make the robot more emotional like human, he want to bring the rejected robot and test on it. Unfortunately, Deon was kidnapped by a group of gangster and they want the robot do thing for them. The robot are successful installed with the new code and it behave like the small baby. It's very cute. Yolandi (one of the gangster) named it as Chappie, as the robot agreed. In the climax of the movie, Chappie was "bullied" by Ninja and America and being taught to rob. And the time when Moose used the guardkey (which he get from Chappie's robot body during the time he kidnapped it) and shut down all the Scout robot, Deon brought it to his lab and make it alive again. And that time it get the helmet from the lab and make it as the machine which can transfer the conciousness from human body to the robot. After that, Deon found out Vincent is the one who turn all Scout robot offline and saw what Chappie did for Ninja and Yankie (Yolandi's friends). He got mad with it and he knew that Vincent will asked her supervisor, Michelle to approve him to launch Moose robot, and steal the weapon from the lab and met Ninja, Yolandi and Yankie. During the fight, Yankie was killed whereas Deon and Yolandi was get shot by Moose robot. Deon was still alive but unfortunately, Yolandi died on the spot. In the earlier Chappie plant a bomb on Moose robot and explode when it activated the bomb. Chappie hate the person who doing this and Deon knew who doing this. Both of them went to the lab and Chappie kill Vincent and scared every staff in the lab. Chappie implemented the system which can transfer the conciousness to the robot and both of them transfer to the new robot. Chappie was installed Yolandi's conciousness in a thumbdrive when he get the helmet from the lab and now transfer her into a new robot and the movie ended. As a conclusion, a baby will become clever if we taught them but they will become bad baby if we taught him in bad way.
