[2014/01/04] Learn Baking Hands-On

Scenario: I visited Malaysia Food Festival 2014 at Hall 2 & 3, Mid Valley Exhibition Centre on 4th January 2014 and I saw the booth where the teacher was teaching a kid to do something. I wondering what was that and asked, and she told me it's cupcake. She did informed me that if I want to learn to make 6 cupcakes, it costed RM10 and provided ingredient and guidance. I think for a long time and since this is my first baking experience, and I willing to pay RM10 and learn it.

Recipe from Ms Katie Loke

1 egg
60 ml melted butter
30 ml - 45 ml water
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1/2 tsp baking powder
45 g sugar
50 g flour

* Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 20 minutes

Full Note Recipe by Kirby510

6 × 2 oz Cupcake

Ingredients:
1 egg
60 ml melted butter
30 ml - 45 ml water
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1/2 tsp baking powder
45 g sugar
50 g flour

Instructions:
1. Break the egg into a bowl.
2. Pour melted butter, water*, vanilla essence, and baking powder** into the bowl.
3. Stir the mixed together.
4. Pour sugar and flour into the bowl and stir it.
5. Pour the mixed into two-third for each paper cup (total 6 paper cups).
6. Put into the preheated oven and bake at 180°C for 20 minutes.

Note:
* You can pour 30 ml water if you want your cupcake to be hard, or 45 ml water if you want your cupcake to be soft.
** You must pour baking powder or otherwise it won't grow (when it's baking).

[2013/10/20] My Favourite Food

Scenario: My friend is taking the subject called "English for Communication 1" on October 2012/2013 semester for the course Pengajian Jarak Jauh (PJJ). During the first class, his lecturer, Dr. Samynathan asked my friend and his classmate to write the short essay about "My Favourite Food". He asked me for help to write the essay.

Original Essay

My favourite food is Tom Yam. Tom Yam is came from Thailand and become one of the Malaysian favourite food. Tom Yam can be served in many ways, such as steamboat, Tom Yam soup with bee hoon, Tom Yam soup with Yee Mee and so on. I prefer Tom Yam served in steamboat because the taste of the soup is spicy and a lot of different ingredient such as seafood to make it taste good. As a conclusion, Tom Yam is the best from Thailand.

The Most Heroic Story in My Life

Few years ago, in the morning, I was shopping in the shopping center around the Kuala Lumpur City Center. When I was on my way to get the lift to the Ground Floor, I saw there are thick smoke and wondering why suddenly there are a lot of smoke inside the shopping center. And I try to walk to the washroom to wash my eyes and wear the mask, but I saw there are fire are coming from the restaurant. I called the nearest fire station to report about the fire and rang the alarm. Everyone is trying to escape from the shopping center. The people are become panic and try to get on the lift, and I try to stop them to not using the lift. Unfortunately most of them are not listen to me and I have to tell the security guards to ask them to escape through the staircase. Thanks god it's worked. When I want going down, I heard there are crying voice from a kid. I try to search for him as soon as possible. Unfortunately he is trapped nearby the restaurant (which is on fire), and at the same time the wood from the upper level falling down. I find if there are any fire extinguisher nearby the restaurant. Finally I found it and attack the fire with the fire extinguisher. Although some of the part was clear but I feel that the fire is nearby the gas in the kitchen. I saved the kid quickly and brought him run through the staircase as soon as possible. When I going down and I heard the mother cried want to go upstairs to look for the kid and she is stopped by the security guards. And when we were walked until we are near to her, she and the kid cried as the mother and son can be gathered together. The mother thanks me and I advice them have to escaped from the shopping center quickly as the place was not safe.

This is the most heroic story in my life as I can save a kid with my life and I was happy that they can gather together. This make me want to be a fire fighter when I graduate.
